Getting rid of Salt Stained Car Mats

If you live in an area with winter and salted roads, then you know what your floor mats look like come spring.  White Vinegar is your answer!  You do not need nasty chemicals.

Here is a great way to get rid of those salt stains.

What you will need:
  • Bottle of white vinegar
  • Clean Spray Bottle
  • Water
  • Clean Sponge

Give the car floor mats, a good vacuum to get rid of lose grime and chunks of flaking salt, then mix up a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle, and then using a sponge, sponge into the carpet. Let it sit for a few minutes, then blot it up with paper towel.

This works great on salt stains, leaves the car floor mats smelling great, and is environment friendly for you!

Getting Rid of Salt Stains on the Car Upholstery

Maybe it was a rough winter, or maybe the kids loved to splash in the winter puddles full of road salt and then transfer it from the mats to the seats.  If you are cleaning the mats you might as well clean the seats and make them last longer.

Winter is hard on the car especially the inside as we spend a lot of time in the car, so using environmentally friendly ingredients is not only better for you but also helps the mats and the seats to last longer.  Salt can be very corrosive on the fibers.
